To post-rock είναι μουσικό είδος το οποίο, όπως δηλώνει και το όνομά του, αποτελεί μια εξέλιξη της παραδοσιακής ροκ μουσικής. Είναι ένας ευρύς όρος που περιλαμβάνει συγκροτήματα με πολύ διαφορετικό μεταξύ τους ήχο.

Το Stoner rock (ή Stoner metal) είναι είδος μουσικής που συνδυάζει στοιχεία των heavy metal, ψυχεδελικού ροκ, blues rock, acid rock και doom metal. Δημιουργήθηκε στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του '90 στην Καλιφόρνια των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών με βασικούς συντελεστές τα συγκροτήματα Kyuss και Sleep.
